Ritardando

ive been watching (thanks GMA 7!) and reading (thanks onemanga.com!) Nodame Cantabile since monday so i wasn't able to post entries. :P haha. of all the the foreign series ive seen, this one is very close to my heart. :) watching and reading NC brings back good old memories of me going to piano school every weekend.

i started playing the piano when i was 7.

i attended formal piano lessons at Casa Musica de Dasmarinas. i was such a horrible piano student then. di ako nagppractice at lalong di ako nakikinig sa mga theories. :P haha! my teacher cried because i cant seem to absorb every note, rythm and rest. mom warned me about this pero wala e :P at age of 7 i treated piano lessons as a game. no seriousness involved. just play. my happy-go-lucky attitude went on and on and on so my teached finally rejected me in his class. i was a dropout. fortunately, the owner of the piano school (who happens to be a teacher also) accepted me as her student. she was not strict pero sakanya ako tumino. :P haha. i came to appreciate music under her tutelage.

aacckkk!!! the mushroom hair!! :O

she taught me not only the basics of piano but the values a pianist should possess as well. and it was because of her patience that i got the chance to play at the annual St. Scholastica's Music Festival (bigtime event to para sa mga amateur pianists). if my memory serves right, i played Sonatina in D by Chopin and Sonate by Beehoven. :)

a lot of opportunities came in after that music festival but i quit piano school when i was 15. it's not just that i want to but i had to. i can't seem to juggle academics, extra-curricular and piano school so after 8 years of good music, i finally reached a double bar.

but just like in sonata, a double bar is not always the end. there's still 2nd movement. :)

i want to play piano again. my fingers maybe stiff already but my passion to produce good music is still burning 5 years after quitting. i want to enroll again in a piano school or if i have the money and the guts (haha) ill enter a conservatory. i am itching to hit right notes again and meet my good old friends Mozart, Chopin, Bach, Tchaikovsky and Beethoven. i know that i have to start from scratch and my progress could be as slow as playing ritardando but ill keep up.

i believe that it is not too late to go back. music is for everyone--young and young at heart.

:)

*when i was in piano school, i admire ate alyssa bautista. she's a good pianist. i was surprised when i saw her at DLSUD. :) HF din ata siya. :)
